Earlier this May Windows 9 was previewed by a chosen few and sent out
word that the release date will be on Spring of 2015. Now rumors of an
earlier launch are circling the Internet world.
According to ZDNet, the newest version of Windows OS will come for preview this autumn. Codenamed Threshold, the
preview is also said to be moved from February to an earlier date.
Windows 9 is still expected to launch come Spring of 2015.
Windows is expected to have more features specially targeted for
desktop users. It will bring back its focus to the basics – mouse and
keyboard input, rather than touch, which will still be an additional
input. It is rumored to have a mini-start menu, which is a resurrected
feature of earlier versions. It will still include the list of programs
and applications plus users can able to pin style tiles to the startup
menu.
Windows 9 comes with a new twist. It is rumored to have the ability
to transform itself depending on which hardware the system is installed
on. Buyers will receive a SKU version of the operating system that will
allow it to complement its look and interface according to the main
hardware used. For example, when installed in Surface Pro 3 and Lenova
Yoga 2 11, it will start up with a Metro splash welcome screen then go
back to the normal Window mode when not in use.
On the other hand, Microsoft will also launch Windows 8.1 update in
August. This supposedly final update comes with UI tweaks and
improvements but there is nothing major that will be changed for the
time being. With the new, promising release of Windows 9, its previous
version will be close to obsolete but support will still be made
available for customers.
