San Mig Super Coffee got the buckets in the paint in the payoff
period to carve out a 78-69 victory over Rain or Shine in Game 3 of the
PLDT Home Telpad PBA Governors’ Cup Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum
Saturday.
The win gave the Mixers a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series, and
moved them within a win of completing the fifth grand slam in the rich
39-year history of the league.
Trailing 58-58 early in the fourth period, San Mig started dumping
rhe ball down low. Ian Sangalang then strung up six straight points, and
help came from Marc Pingris, Rafi Reavis and Marqus Blakely as the
Mixers built a 76-66 cushion that proved to be enough with 3:40 to go.
Blakely led San Mig with 17 points and 17 rebounds with Sangalang chipping in 13.
AZ Reid was the only Elasto Paintet in dpuble figures, firing 31 points.
