Crocodile measuring over 16 feet caught in Palawan

In Palawan, a crocodile measuring over 16 feet was caught by residents of Sitio Marabahay, Barangay Rio Tuba in Bataraza.

Residents were alarmed when they heard something smashing underneath and beside their houses at about 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30. When they checked to find out the source of the noise, they saw a huge crocodile.

More than six people worked together to catch the crocodile, which measured at 16.3 feet. It’s about twice the size of “Malang,” the 7.9-foot crocodile caught in Cotabato last April. However, it’s still smaller than "Lolong," the record-making crocodile caught in Agusan del Sur, who measured 20.24 feet.

Lolong died one year and five months after he was captured.

Meanwhile, the newly caught crocodile has been turned over to the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center.
